William Koenig was born in 1954 in Phoenix, Arizona, the son of the late Joan Koenig and the late Virgil Koenig.

Virgil, a Marine pilot, flew Corsairs (VMF-512) in the Pacific during World War II and won the Distinguished Flying Cross as an F7F Tigercat night-bomber (VMF(N)-513) in the Korean Conflict. He attended the University of Arizona on a football scholarship and graduated from Florida Southern with a BS in Business.

Joan was a market research specialist for Proctor & Gamble, which today ranks in the top 25 of the Fortune 500. She received her master’s degree in political science from Arizona State University and was active in the Democratic Party in Arizona.

Joan and Virgil enjoyed business successes in aviation, farming and ranching.

William attended Casa Grande Union High School in Casa Grande, Arizona, serving as class president for three years and student body president his senior year. He was an honor student and active in sports.

He received a principal appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis. He was a member of the Presidential Classroom for Young Americans in Washington, D.C., which provides young leaders with an extraordinary academic and leadership experience. He was an alternate senator for Arizona for Boys Nation. He received a Medallion of Merit Scholarship from Arizona State University in Tempe.

William graduated from Arizona State University with a B.S. in Communications. He was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He was a two-time student senator, vice president of Boys Federation, and a member of Archons Greek Honorary. He was active in intramural sports.

He embarked on a business career in 1978 with Coldwell Banker Commercial (now CBRE/CB Richard Ellis), a major international real estate company. He began his work in Phoenix, transferring to Dallas, Texas in 1979. He worked with two other commercial real estate companies in Dallas before starting his own brokerage and investment company in 1984.

In a career change during the summer of 1996, William began publishing “Koenig’s Watch,” a weekly summary of important Middle East and world news. He moved the publication online in late 1996, expanding the coverage and becoming “Koenig International News” (watch.org).

The news service has readers and e-mail subscribers in all 50 U.S. states and 105 countries.

In early 1999, William produced the audiotape, “Countdown 2000,” discussing ten major events to watch moving into the new century.

He moved his news organization to Washington, D.C., in 2001 and became a White House correspondent.

His experience at the White House has provided extraordinary behind-the-scenes experience and insight. He has learned much from the White House visits of world leaders, the daily routines and events of our nation’s capital, and some of the most significant news events in our nation’s history.

He writes a weekly 15-page news report called “Koenig’s Eye View from the White House,” that focuses on world news that is biblically relevant and White House news from a Christian perspective.

In 2001, he co-authored a book with John McTernan, Israel: The Blessing or the Curse.

In February 2004, he authored Eye to Eye - Facing the Consequences of Dividing Israel,” which was revised and updated in July 2006. Eye to Eye was updated and expanded to 577 pages in August 2017. The updated book now contains President G.W. Bush’s second term, President Barack Obama’s two terms and President Trump’s first eight months in office.

In July 2016, William authored Revealed: Obama’s Legacy, which is keen insight into Obama’s eight years in office.

William has traveled extensively to 49 U.S. states and 36 countries on six continents. He has traveled to Israel 30 times. 

He was a member of First Baptist Dallas and Dallas Theological Seminary’s President’s Council before moving to Washington.

William and his wife, Claudia, reside in the Washington metropolitan area. They attend Cornerstone Chapel, in Leesburg, Virginia.
